From Vision to Masterpiece
Made as a custom commission for a One Piece fan in the USA, this Doflamingo-inspired runner is pure chaos energy — that fearless grin at the center, surrounded by an explosive burst of color that feels like a power-up frozen mid-scene. Loud, dramatic, and instantly recognizable, it’s a statement piece designed to take over any room.
Designing & Yarn Planning
We started with the client’s reference and converted it into a clean, rug-ready CAD — refining outlines, simplifying gradients for tufting, and mapping each section for crisp separation. Once the layout was finalized, we matched every color to the closest yarn shade and built a complete palette plan (pinks, reds, oranges, browns, and deep blacks) to keep the highlights sharp, the shadows rich, and the final piece as bold in wool as it is in the artwork.
Tufting & Weaving
Once the design was traced onto the frame, the real build began. We started tufting from the larger base areas and worked inward toward the finer details, carefully switching colors to match every highlight and shadow. As the layers filled in, the character and burst pattern started to come alive — with dense, even pile throughout to keep the flow smooth and the outlines strong, ready for carving and final finishing.
Detailing & Finishing
This is where everything snaps into focus. After tufting, we trimmed the pile and hand-carved along every line to separate colors, sharpen the outlines, and bring depth to the shadows and highlights. The small accents and clean edges were refined one by one, then the surface was groomed and leveled for a smooth, premium finish — making the whole piece look crisp, bold, and display-ready.
Finished Rug — Shipped to Client
After final grooming and quality checks, the rug was fully finished and packed for shipment. The colors hit loud, the outlines stay crisp, and the carved details give the whole piece depth from every angle — a bold, display-worthy runner made to turn any space into a statement.
